Bolton Muslim Girls' School

Welcome from the Headteacher

BOLTON MUSLIM GIRLS' SCHOOL (BMGS)

Assalamu Alaikum and a warm welcome to Bolton Muslim Girls’ School (BMGS).

On behalf of the entire BMGS community, I am delighted to welcome you to our website. We hope that it will give you valuable insight into our school and the incredible journey we have embarked on together. Since its humble beginnings in 1987, with just 17 learners, BMGS has grown significantly over the years. Our school has a proud history and rich traditions that have shaped our success and the achievements of our learners.

As a faith-based academy, Islamic principles are at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to ensuring that our students are not only academically successful but also confident, compassionate individuals who embody the school’s core values of faith, aspiration, respect, honesty, kindness, tolerance, resilience, and good manners. Visitors and those familiar with our school often speak of the unique ethos we foster—one that combines the best of Islamic morals with British values, creating a truly welcoming and respectful learning environment.

At BMGS, we are focused on providing your child with the knowledge, skills, and experiences to become a successful, lifelong learner. Our vision, ‘Success for All,’ reflects our dedication to ensuring every student reaches their full potential. Our commitment to raising aspirations and providing excellent pastoral care means that we work tirelessly to ensure a smooth transition from primary to secondary education, ensuring that every child is happy and supported. As an Ofsted inspection in March 2025 noted, “Pupils are happy and feel safe in this very welcoming school. Staff care deeply for pupils’ well-being and safety.”

The success of BMGS is built on the positive partnerships between learners, parents, staff, governors, and trustees. We believe that parental involvement is vital to the success of our students, and we are grateful for the vital role that parents play in supporting our school community. The Ofsted inspection also highlighted that, “Staff’s expectations for behaviour are high, and all pupils meet those expectations without fail.” This reflects our commitment to maintaining high standards in all aspects of school life—academic, social, and personal development.

In March 2025, BMGS underwent a graded Ofsted inspection, and we are proud to share that the school was rated Outstanding for Behaviour and Attitude and Good in other categories. The recent expansion of our pupil population and facilities has allowed us to enhance our curriculum. As noted by Ofsted, we now offer a “high-quality, broad, and aspirational curriculum” that prepares our students for the future with a well-rounded education.

We are currently working to further enhance our facilities, with plans to secure capital funding through a CIF bid for additional classrooms and resources. With over 750 learners now enrolled, BMGS continues to be one of the most popular and oversubscribed schools in Bolton. We have recently upgraded our facilities, particularly on the second and third floors of the Mill Building, to create dedicated spaces for Design & Technology, Art, Food Technology, Religious Studies, Physical Education, Music, Computing, Electronics, Textiles, and more. These improvements have been praised by Ofsted, who noted, “The school has created a learning environment that is engaging and purposeful.”

We are always looking towards the future. As a learning community, we aim to inspire all of our students and staff to continue their educational journeys and strive for excellence. As Ofsted observed, “The school wants pupils to succeed. It has high expectations for all pupils’ achievement, which are realised.”

Our goal is to provide an outstanding educational experience, one that equips our students with the skills, attributes, and values they will need to succeed in an increasingly competitive and fast-changing world. We believe in fostering positive and lasting partnerships not only within the school but also with our local communities, Masjids, and charitable organisations.

I would like to extend a personal invitation to you to visit our school, meet with our staff and students, and experience first-hand the unique atmosphere of BMGS. We would be delighted to show you around and share more about the wonderful opportunities available to our learners.
