Bolton Muslim Girls' School

Welcome from the Headteacher

BOLTON MUSLIM GIRLS' SCHOOL (BMGS)

Assalamu-alaikum and a very warm welcome to Bolton Muslim Girls’ School (BMGS).

On behalf of Bolton Muslim Girls’ School- BMGS, I would like to welcome you to our website. I hope it will give you a flavour of our wonderful school.  We are very proud of our school, our learners, and their successes. BMGS has a rich history and tradition which dates back over 35 years.

The Mill Building adjacent to the school has proven to be a tremendous asset to our school. We had a significant capital investment to create new provisions to meet the needs and demands of our broad and balanced curriculum. We have upgraded our facilities on the second and third floor of the Mill to create diverse spaces for Design & Technology, Art, Food Technology, RS, changing facilities for P.E., Music, Computing, Electronics, Resistant Material, textile and open space for Assemblies/Exams/Events. These provisions have significantly enhanced the learning environment for our students. It is inspiring to see how thoughtful planning and development can positively impact education and students’ learning experiences and outcomes. We have other upcoming projects for further site expansion on the ground floor of the Mill. With over 750 learners on roll, it is a thriving, dynamic and successful school, and continues to be one of the most popular and highly over-subscribed schools in Bolton.

We aim to provide your child with the experiences, knowledge, and academic skills to inspire them to become successful life-long learners.   We want our children to be the best they can be, and this is underpinned by our vision- ‘Success for All’. "Senior leaders, trustees and governors are driven to provide equality and high ambition for all pupils at this school." Ofsted Dec.2022

As a faith academy, the Islam faith underpins all that we do in school. We strive to ensure that learners at BMGS are happy and confident individuals who demonstrate the school’s core values of faith, aspiration, respect, honesty, good manners, tolerance, resilience, and kindness. Everyone who knows us or visits our school speaks of our distinct ethos with its best standards of conduct founded on Islamic morals and British values.

"The personal development curriculum is thorough and well designed. Leaders think of new ways to involve pupils in activities beyond the classroom. Pupils are well prepared to understand and participate in modern Britain". Ofsted Dec 2022

Your children are the reason why we are all here. Firstly, and in my opinion, most importantly, we will always try to ensure that your child is happy. As a parent myself, I fully understand that children’s happiness, safety, and wellbeing must always be the priority.

There has never been a better time to be associated with BMGS than now. We had a Section 5 Ofsted inspection in Dec 2022 and school has been judged Requires Improvement. The new Ofsted framework emphasis is more on a rich and varied curriculum and how it is taught than pupil progress and attainment in GCSEs.

The increasing pupil population and recent Ofsted outcome has given the renewed impetus to the review of the current curriculum and staffing structure and generating more opportunities for everyone. New Design Technology facilities are currently being explored through the development of the third floor and Ground Floor of the Mill Building, adjacent to the school and we will continue to expand them further

Regardless of current Ofsted grading of Requires Improvement, the school has continued to maintain its ranking in the top 20% nationally for Progress 8. The school’s GCSE results have been outstanding. The school has a track record of sustainable school improvements, and we are looking to strengthen our team as we move on.

We make it our priority to ensure a smooth transition from primary to secondary through excellent pastoral care.  We also work closely with our feeder primary schools, learning from their experience with your child in order that we can deliver the very best start for all.

We are forward-looking and innovative. We have continued to move forward at BMGS, through adopting and incorporating new practices such as e-learning in every classroom, as well as 24-hour access to the curriculum through our Microsoft Teams Learning Environment. We are a learning community and therefore learning is at the heart of all we do. We value children and staff and motivate them to continue their learning journey.

An outstanding education experience is one of the greatest gifts that we can offer to our young people who will be the leaders of future generations. As the world is rapidly changing, we need to ensure that all our learners go out into the globally competitive world with the skills, attributes, and behaviours for twenty-first century living.

The continuing success of our school is based on the positive partnership between learners, parents, staff, governors, and trustees. The active involvement of parents in the life of the school brings a unique warmth and vitality to our community, and we recognise the crucial role which parents must play in the education of their children. We believe that parents choose BMGS because they share in our insistence on the highest standards of behaviour and self-discipline. Our expectation is that all learners will work hard, show love and ownership of learning, respect and courtesy for others and a pride in their appearance.

We foster positive and lasting partnerships within the school, and with parents/carers, local communities, local Masjids, and other charitable and voluntary organisations.

I extend a personal invitation to you, to visit us to meet with both the staff and learners and see the school in session. We would be delighted to show you, our school.
