RSE Consultation
RSE Policy Review and Consultation Update – July 2025
In line with the statutory guidance introduced in September 2020, Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) remains a compulsory element of the school curriculum. Schools are required to deliver RSE in a way that reflects the needs of their pupils and community, while remaining compliant with national legislation and guidance.
At Bolton Muslim Girls’ School, we completed a full stakeholder consultation process in 2020, involving parents, staff, pupils, and governors. This ensured that our approach to RSE remained sensitive, age-appropriate, and firmly rooted in our Islamic ethos. The feedback received at the time helped shape a policy that reflects both statutory requirements and the values of our school community.
In July 2025, the policy has been reviewed and updated to ensure continued compliance with Department for Education (DfE) guidance, the Equality Act 2010, and current best practice. While no further consultation was required at this stage, the review has taken into account any relevant updates to statutory guidance and the evolving needs of our pupils.
The RSE policy continues to promote respectful, informed, and safe relationships education, delivered within the context of Islamic values and the expectations of modern British society.
The RSE Policy is available in the Policies and Publications section.
