Bolton Muslim Girls' School

A very warm welcome to Bolton Muslim Girls' School (BMGS)

Assalamu-alaikum and a very warm welcome to Bolton Muslim Girls’ School (BMGS).

On behalf of Bolton Muslim Girls’ School community, I would like to welcome you to our website. I hope it will offer you good insight of our wonderful school.  We are very proud of our school, our learners, and their successes. BMGS has come a long way since its humble beginning in 1987 as an independent school with 17 learners on roll. BMGS has a rich history and tradition which dates back over 35 years.

As a faith academy, the Islam faith underpins our practices and learning philosophy. We strive to ensure that learners at BMGS are happy and confident individuals who demonstrate the school’s core values of faith, aspiration, respect, honesty, good manners, tolerance, resilience, and kindness. Everyone who knows us or visits our school speaks of our distinct ethos with its best standards of conduct founded on Islamic morals and British values.

We aim to provide your child with the experiences, knowledge, and academic skills to inspire them to become successful life-long learners. We want our children to be the best they can be, and this is underpinned by our vision- ‘Success for All’. “The school commits to raising pupils’ aspirations and achieving success. Pupils are knowledgeable about future education and training opportunities”. Ofsted March 2025. We make it our priority to ensure a smooth transition from primary to secondary through excellent pastoral care.

Your children are the reason why we are all here. Firstly, and in my opinion, most importantly, we will always try to ensure that your child is happy. As a parent myself, I fully understand that children’s happiness, safety, and wellbeing must always be the priority. "Pupils are happy and feel safe in this very welcoming school. Staff care deeply for pupils’ well-being and safety." Ofsted March 2025.

The continuing success of our school is based on the positive partnership between learners, parents, staff, governors, and trustees. The active involvement of parents in the life of the school brings a unique warmth and vitality to our community, and we recognise the crucial role which parents must play in the education of their children. We believe that parents choose BMGS because they share in our insistence on the highest standards of behaviour and self-discipline. "Staff’s expectations for behaviour are high, and all pupils meet those expectations without fail" Ofsted March 2025. Our expectation is that all learners will work hard, show love and ownership of learning, respect and courtesy for others and a pride in their appearance.

Most recently, we had a graded inspection visit under section 5 In March 2025.  We are thrilled with the outcome of the visit. The school has been judged Outstanding for Behaviour and Attitude and Good for other categories.

The increasing pupil population and site expansion has transformed our curriculum. The recent Ofsted report has praised the school’s curriculum as, “high-quality, broad and aspirational curriculum.” Currently we are seeking capital funding through CIF bid to create more classrooms and facilities on Ground Floor of the Mill Building. With over 750 learners on roll, it is a thriving, dynamic and successful school, and continues to be one of the most popular and highly over-subscribed schools in Bolton.

We have upgraded our facilities on the second and third floor of the Mill to create diverse spaces for Design & Technology, Art, Food Technology, RS, changing facilities for P.E., Music, Computing, Electronics, Resistant Material, textile and open space for Assemblies/Exams/Events. These newly developed Design Technology facilities on the third floor of the mill have been praised by Ofsted, " The school has created a learning environment that is engaging and purposeful. Pupils value the recent improvements that the school has made to the quality of education that they receive."

We are forward-looking and innovative. We are a learning community and therefore learning is at the heart of all we do. We value children and staff and motivate them to continue their learning journey. “The school wants pupils to succeed. It has high expectations for all pupils’ achievement, which are realised”. Ofsted March 2025

An outstanding education experience is one of the greatest gifts that we can offer to our young people who will be the leaders of future generations. As the world is rapidly changing, we need to ensure that all our learners go out into the globally competitive world with the skills, attributes, and behaviours for twenty-first century living.

We foster positive and lasting partnerships within the school, and with parents/carers, local communities, local Masjids, and other charitable and voluntary organisations.

I extend a personal invitation to you, to visit us to meet with both the staff and learners and see the school in session. We would be delighted to show you, our school.
